Hurricane "Dorian" Report Completed (9/7)

Hurricane "Dorian" was an extremely violent and destructive hurricane that ravaged the Bahamas around Labor Day (September 1-2) of 2019. The storm hit the islands of Abaco and Grand Bahamas as a violent category 5 storm, with 185 MPH winds. After that the storm aimed at eastern Florida, but slowed down, and eventually turned just east of Palm Beach, missing the state. I was not able to fly to the Bahamas because of canceled flights (despite 2 others making it there before my flight). Rather discouraged, I had no other choice to chase the outer effects of the storm in eastern Florida.

An observation log of this storm has been placed in the STORM CHASING section of this website under HURRICANE DORIAN 2019. You can also jump right to that area by clicking the link provided below...

Hurricane "Michael" Upgraded To Cat-5 (4/20)

Hurricane "Michael", which struck the Florida Panhandle near and east of Panama City on October 10, 2018, was upgraded to a rare category 5 storm in post analysis done by the National Hurricane Center. Hurricane "Michael", with sustained winds of 160 MPH at time of landfall, was one of only four category 5 storms to impact the continental USA in history (the others being the "Labor Day Hurrricane" in 1935, "Camille" in 1969, and "Andrew" in 1992).

To see footage of such a rare daytime landfall of a category 5 hurricane, please check out the STORM CHASING section on this site or by clicking the link provided below...

ChaserCon 2019 (2/10/2019)

The storm chaser convention in 2019 took place from February 8th through the 10th in Wichita, Kansas at the Hyatt Regency and convention center in downtown. This continued to be a great event each year, thanks to the great efforts of Roger Hill and his group!

Winter Of 2018 / 2019 (12/14)

The winter season is upon us with heavy snow storms to the north and possible severe storms confined to the deep south and Florida. In the image above, lightning illuminates the southern end of an intense line of strong and severe thunderstorms off the western coast of south Florida late in the evening of December 14, 2018 as a Boeing 737 aircraft, flying from Houston to Fort Lauderdale at 39,000 feet on a delayed flight, makes its way safely around the storm complex.

In the meantime, I wish everyone a safe and happy holidays and prosperous NEW YEAR of 2019.
