2020 - A DIFFICULT YEAR (10/24)

2020 has been a hell of a year for many people. What many failed to realize is to hold on to love and respect for one another amidst all this gloom and doom. It has become a dying art and many folks are suffering dearly.

Bring back the love and care for one another, and protect ourselves and others as well. It just might be the best thing we all can do at this point - AND - It just might help things get better. You will be mighty surprised.

Hurricane Delta (10/9)

Another hurricane was intercepted in southwestern Louisiana on October 9, 2020. This storm chase involved a dangerous category-2 hurricane (Delta, the first "Greek Alphabet" storm ever chased) at the landfall point in Creole, Louisiana.

An observation log of this storm has been placed in the STORM CHASING section of this website under HURRICANE DELTA. You can also jump right to that area by clicking the link provided below...

Major Hurricane Laura (8/27)

Hurricane Laura was the worst storm to hit Louisiana in over 100 years, and the worst hurricane in history for SW Louisiana. The storm struck Cameron and Lake Charles head on as a high-end category 4 hurricane on the Saffir Simpson scale, with 150 MPH sustained winds and a central pressure of 937 MB at maximum intensity, just as it was making landfall in SW Louisiana!

An observation log of this storm has been placed in the STORM CHASING section of this website under HURRICANE LAURA. You can also jump right to that area by clicking the link provided below...

Tropical storm Marco affected the southern portions of Louisiana during the afternoon and night of August 24, 2020 - Weakening to a tropical depression and dissipating on the 25th of August. I was in Louisiana and made some observations on ths storm near Grand Isle in Jefferson Parish.

An observation log of this storm has been placed in the STORM CHASING section of this website under TROPICAL STORM MARCO. You can also jump right to that area by clicking the link provided below...

Storm Chasing Expedition (6/24)

Storm chasing in the central USA is completed as of June 24. The trip was from April 26 and ended June 24, with about 22,781 miles covered in that time. Although somewhat lack-luster in terms of tornadoes, the chase trip of 2020 had some good moments.

You can see the chase logs (in the STORM CHASING section of this website), or by following the link for it below.

Laid-Off And Covid-19 (3/15)

The new year of 2020 started off great, with a great new IT contract job landed for myself in early December of 2019 in Denver, Colorado - One of the best jobs in my life - Until myself and 11 others were laid off in early to mid March of 2020. Like Sept 11 in 2001, the fear and pandemic of the Corona-virus, spreading geometrically across the world, caused the largest stock market crash in many years. Of course, this affected my company, E*Trade, which handled stocks and investments, and I was one of the ones to leave. Unfortunately this is just the beginning of what's to come.

This disease will continue to spread, and quickly affect the worlds population. This will shut down many businesses and events, especially those where large amounts of people congregate (cruises, sporting events, theaters, etc). The only way to slow down the spread is to keep away from crowded places, and wash your hands frequently, and just STAY HOME. The most danger to the people are the sick and elderly, which obviously will be the hardest hit (mainly over 65), leaving the younger crowds (millennials) with almost no symptoms at all. This can, and probably will, KILL a LOT of people. God bless everyone in this tough period and I hope this pandemic gets under control soon.

See just one of the effects this has done, at an airport in Florida, in the FLYING section of this web site, or at the link for it below.

Aerobatics With Dagmar Kress (3/6)

I did some aerobatics in a Pitts Special S-2C with a long time friend and pilot, Dagmar Kress, that I knew from south Florida since the Fall of 1993! She is still flying for the MSU Aerobatic Team out of Centennial Airport in Colorado. It was so awesome to fly with her and I thank her for taking me up! You can see videos, one from a hand-held GoPro 8 camera, and another from a 360 VR 4k camera mounted in the cockpit in the FLYING section of this web site.

The Last ChaserCon 2020 (1/31/2020)

The storm chaser convention in 2020 took place from January 31 to February 2, 2020 near Denver, Colorado at the Doubletree Hilton near Stapleton. I was working this year in Denver at an IT job near Centennial and attended what was sadly the last ChaserCon. Special thanks to the great efforts of Roger Hill and his group for making this happen, as well as Tim Samaras for founding a 22-year-long event!
